adsorption of chloroform from aqueous solution by nano -tio2
Authors
abstract
in this study, nano-tio2 was employed for the adsorption of chloroform from aqueous solution in batch equilibrium experiments to investigate its adsorption properties. the effects of ph, initial chloroform concentration and nano-tio2 dosage were also investigated. optimal conditions for chloroform removal by nano-tio2 have been then identified. results of equilibrium experiments showed that the solution ph was the key parameter affecting the adsorption characteristics. it was found that the adsorption efficiency of chloroform was more at ph 8.0. results showed that the initial adsorption rate was increased with the increasing nano-tio2 dosage and decreasing initial chloroform concentration. equilibrium data were fitted to langmuir, freundlich and temkin isotherms. the langmuir isotherm was found to be the best fitting isotherm model. the adsorption kinetic data were analyzed using pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order. it was found that the pseudo-second-order kinetic model was the most appropriate model, describing the adsorption kinetics.

full textAdsorption of Lead from Aqueous Solution by Modified Beech Sawdust
Sawdust is now being investigated as an adsorbent to remove contaminants from aqueous solution. Heavy metals can be decreased very effectively with the organic material. In this research, adsorption of Pb (II) onto modified beech sawdust in a batch system was investigated. Sawdust was collected from timber mill of Qom, Iran, and modified with H2SO4 and NaOH. Then, the effe...
full textCarmine Adsorption from Aqueous Solution by Crosslinked Peanut Husk
To observe the feasibility of the removal of carmine, peanut husk, an agriculture by-product, was crosslinked with epichlorohydrin in alkaline medium and used for adsorption of carmine from aqueous solution. Batch experiments were carried out to study the effects of various parameters such as initial pH, contact time, adsorbent dosage and initial carmine concentration, as ...
full textThermodynamic Study of Hg(II) Ion Adsorption onto Nano Hydroxyapatite from Aqueous Solution
Hydroxyapatite nanocrystals were synthesized by sol-gel combustion method for the sorption ofHg(II) ions from aqueous solutions. The effects of varying parameters such as pH, temperature, initialmetal concentration, and contact time on the adsorption process were examined. Adsorptionequilibrium was established in 360 minutes and the maximum adsorption of Hg(II) on thehydroxyapatite was observed...
full textAdsorption of Zn (II) from aqueous solution by using chitin extraction from crustaceous shell
Removal of toxic heavy metals from wastewater is an important environmental challenge. In this Study, Zn (II) removal from aqueous solution by chitin extraction from crustaceous shells (shrimp and crab) was investigated. The biosorption studies were determined as a function of contact time, pH, initial metal concentration, and the amount of adsorbent. Adsorption of Zn (II) increased with decrea...
